Caregiving is a daunting task.  No one knows what it is really like to be a caregiver until he or she becomes one. Then, the world changes.

· Are you helping a family member more than you used to with doctor appointments, medication, or personal care?

· Are you adjusting your work schedule to allow time to care for a family member?

· Have you wished that other family members would provide more help caring for a family member?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, you are a caregiver.  And, the stress of being a caregiver can affect all parts of your life

Through a contract with the Central Minnesota Council on Aging (AAA), the East Central Senior Resource Center offers assistance to businesses, agencies and organizations wishing to develop or expand services for older adults in the five county region.

Types of assistance available include needs assessments, survey development, business plan assistance, demographic information, grant writing and training.

Each county within the region has a "Senior Provider Network".  Oftentimes the networks' meetings offer a chance to meeting program staff and find out what new services are being introduced throughout the region.

The East Central Senior Resource Center facilitates the networking events by publicizing the networks and sending out event announcements.  Participants drive the agendas.  The events are open to the public.  You're encouraged to bring a friend.  "Good food, ample conversation, and potential partnerships" sum up the events.
